Dr. Subo Liao graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Sun Yat-sen University, and received a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Arizona in 1997. He holds a Six Sigma Design Black Belt. He has served as a Senior Scientist at Monsanto, Principal Scientist at Pfizer, Senior Principal Scientist at Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, and Director of New Drug Development at Humanwell Pharmaceutical in the U.S. He is currently the Vice President at Humanwell Pharmaceutical in the U.S.​

With 28 years of experience in drug research and development, he specializes in drug design and preclinical research. He has participated in or led projects in antifungal, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, cardiovascular, respiratory, central nervous system, and anticancer drugs, with seven new molecules advanced into preclinical and clinical trials. He has published over 20 academic papers and holds over 20 patents and patent applications.​
